Foreign children victims of bullying

As everyone knows bullying is not a new issue in our society and this becomes even more present during the school years. Focusing on this controversial topic it´s important to know that the most agressive bullying we can find is in children who suffer for being non-native in the place that their live for example in French where according to a UNICEF investigation one in ten children suffer harassment or bullying at school.

<< Some 17 percent of children in the study had been hit, 18 percent had suffered sexual harassment (being undressed, forced kissing, touching) and 16 percent had been given a demeaning nickname. One in four said they had been insulted, with seven percent saying they’d been subject to racial abuse. >> **  as we can see in this investigation there´s a lot of children that are been bullied for different reason and in the case of french the main reason of bullying it´s the fact that french kids see the other foreign kids as “different”because they can speak very well french (they have accent) or because they have different life styles.
For these reason for the first time ministers have got involved in this problematic trying to resolve all the problems that foreign students have in their schools.

Besides the problem of "language" which some children are abused are also: religion, sexual preference, skin color, etc. As also can be seen in the book "The absolutely true diary of a Part time Indian" where we can see the insertion problems that a Indian kid has when he arrived to another school, to ehd with this practices and avoid that this continue with the pass of the years and generations we have to stop it, and there are many ways to do it, for example we have the ISPU association that helps teenagers who have suffered from bullying , in this association they can
overcome their problems and find professional support, to get into this association you just have to get to page http://www.ispu.org to learn more about this innovative proposal and be part of it. Bullying is not a practice which debemosestar proud, fight to end this.

  1. Bullying is an issue that will not stop talking until the end, I agree with you that you should do something about this (although it has been done), but I personally do not see results, the figures have increased of bullying, and more to foreign children, it happens in many countries, an example may be Chile. The Chileans have been abusing foreigners who come to rebuild their lives here, and as a phrase says "education begins at home." Perhaps this is one reason why there is so much bullying

  2. Sadly, bullying is an issue that never stops. Maybe my comment will sound very pessimistic, and I want to clarify that I'm totally agree with you when you say that we should combat it, but I think that no effort are enough when we talk about this problem. Unfurtunately, bullying exists and we need to change mentality of the whole world if we pretent to stop with it permanently.

  3. Unfortunately we live in a society where the "beautiful" people always win or are accepted, whether at work, at school or college and in everyday life. But ... Who imposes these canons of beauty or personality?, because we are not only judged for our physical appearance, but in many cases, one should think or act as mass says, and if not you are excluded. When this is going to stop?, at least not for now, we all live in a world where to succeed you must disqualify the other, we are constantly being bombarded by television programs, where models and minorities are ridiculed (whether sexual, beliefs, and even as your post says, the origin of birth). The reality is sad, but the change depends of us.

  4. Bullyng is a problem that We all put away, nobody thinks that Bullyng is a good thing, but sadly We dont do anything to change that, because We can't, children are children and They are influenced by television or by any other thing, so if they thing that something (like punch a gay kid) is going to make them more "cool", they will do it, the thing now is that We, as teacher, we have to change that, and we have to teach our student that violence is never the answer, that is our mision, and we will eventually change the life of a kid.

  5. I agreee with you, bullying its a big problem that sometimes People underestimates, everyone should be awere of this situation and fight fight against it.
Our socity was built by and for beautiful apparences and the ones who don't look like tahat are treated like they weren't ebough.
The truth is that we need a los or courage to fight this problem and not be part of this, but we need to rebember that you can´t fight violence with violence we must educated correctly in our houses and schools to teach tolerence and love. That is the only way we can solve this problem.

  6. We live in a reality which is somehow one step ahead of the bullying problem, in college, where you must have studied to get there and you have to pay a lot to stay there also it isn't really an everyday issue, but we just need to look back to see how bad is our society, it isn't an uncommon problem at all, present in every school.
It is sad to know all these bad things that happen and hardly be able to do anything, the best thing we can do is teach our children how similar they are to everybody else.
